Ronnie, who grew up in Paisley, is a Fellow and Scottish Co-ordinator of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) and firmly believes in their open-source mentality, which encourages the free sharing of information aimed at helping and assisting injured people. To that end, Ronnie has published widely on legal topics (see, for example, The Accident and Injury Advice Book) and regularly contributes to the public debate on personal injury law and practice in newspapers and radio discussion.

Ronnie has also given evidence on a number of occasions to the Scottish Parliament on issues relating to personal injury law such as the Rights of Relatives to Damages (Mesothelioma) (Scotland) Act 2007, the Damages (Scotland) Act 2011 and the recent civil court reforms.
