Bushra - Managing Director

Our team is led by our Founder, Managing Director and Head of Practice, Ms. Bushra Ali. Bushra is the Compliance Officer for Legal Practice and the Compliance Office for Financial Regulation at the firm.

Bushra completed her Law Degree at Manchester Metropolitan University and went on to specialise in Employment Law and Advanced Criminal Practice in her Bar Training to train as a barrister and was called to the Bar before joining a leading London firm as an Appeals Advocate where she regularly appeared before the courts representing individuals and families facing various immigration problems.

Bushra Moved to the Midlands circuit, building a strong immigration specialist practice in Birmingham where she cross-qualified as a Solicitor. Bushra went on to pass specialist exams to obtain additional accreditation under the Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme as a Supervisor and Senior Immigration Specialist, accreditation she has maintained to date.

Bushra Founded Bushra Ali Solicitors in 2015, with a string of accolades including being the only person to have been twice awarded Leicestershire Law Society Solicitor of the Year (2012 and 2016). She then went on to become the youngest President of the Leicestershire Law Society serving her term in Office of 2018-2019. Whilst at the Leicestershire Law Society she served on the Equality and Diversity sub-board, working extremely hard to encourage engagement with diverse communities to continue to encourage greater diversity into the profession.

Bushra is now serving on the Immigration Law and Policy Committee at The National Law Society of England and Wales. The Committee is routinely involved in making recommendations for change at The Home Office, The Tribunals and liaising with various organisations including the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

Bushra Ali Solicitors has its private meeting space in Wrexham North Wales which allows us to service our clients face to face, living in this region. Bushra went on to serve on the Committee of Cheshire and North Wales Law Society for two years and became the first appointed Chair of the Equality and Diversity sub-group at the Society.

In 2021, Bushra was elected onto the Board of the Leicester Council of Faiths.

Bushra has over 20 years experience dealing with complex immigration matters. Her specialism is broad including complex applications for Leave to Remain and Entry Clearance for children, partners and families. She has extensive experience in representing Asylum, Human Rights and Long Residence matters including representing victims of abuse and bereaved partners. Her immigration portfolio also includes representing businesses with potential employment needs looking to employ foreign migrants.
Bushra is a master in her craft and is instructed by her clients knowing she will not shy away from a difficult case and will fight for her clients as though she is fighting for herself.

Bushra’s passion is her corporate social responsibility. She has a dream of creating equal footing for all despite social class, background, age, gender, faith, colour and disability. Bushra founded The Bushra Ali Group which creates a platform to raise awareness and drive conversation on social issues. Some of the projects that have been launched include Empowered Women Empowering Women Global, Equality Diversity Inclusion Network, The Good Lawyers Project, Be the Change – Empowering you and Be the Change – Mentoring plus.

In 2021 Bushra was awarded Corporate Social Responsibility Award ‘Winner’ by the Institute of Directors, Midlands. She was also a finalist in 2021 for woman solicitor of the year at the Law Society Legal Excellence Awards and Mentor of the Year at Forward Ladies.

Hannah Visan - Operations Manager

Hannah is the Operations Manager at the firm and Senior Legal Secretary to Bushra Ali. Hannah supported Bushra at a previous practice for 5 years before joining Bushra Ali Solicitors. Bushra describes Hannah as “the glue that keeps everything together!”

Hannah’s role involves being the point of contact for all internal and external enquiries, speaking with new and existing clients, fixing appointments, opening and managing case files, typing and preparing legal documents as well as supporting our consultants.

Hannah loves building strong relationships with our clients and our clients routinely provide positive feedback, valuing the support Hannah provides which is integral to removing the stress from the process for our clients. As Bushra’s responsibilities outside of the firm continue to increase, Hannah has willingly taken on more and more responsibility at the firm, managing all operational matters.

My experience with my previous solicitors was not so positive. My previous solicitor did not take me through the Immigration Rules thoroughly and explain how they impacted my potential application. Instead, the solicitor went ahead and made an application on my behalf and the application went on to be refused because as the Home Office stated, I did not meet all of the requirements. I really liked their way of working. Bushra Ali Solicitors handled my matter remotely which meant that I was able to attend my appointments via Zoom and did not need to take time off work or to spend time travelling to their office.

I was recently granted indefinite leave to remain which was a huge relief and a great weight off my shoulders.
