About the Business

Fletchers was founded in 1985 by the late Dick Fletcher and has always specialised in criminal defence and Family Law. On April 7th 2008 we merged to create a major force in the East Midlands criminal defence field. The expertise of both firms was acknowledged in the authoritative Chambers & Partners review of English Law firms. We now have nine partners, eight of whom are Duty Solicitors. We have eight Higher Courts Advocates - with Rights of Audience in the Crown Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.

From our four offices we deal with the whole criminal process from Police Station through to the Crown Court. We have a contract with the Legal Services Commission to represent individuals in complex crime cases, often called Very High Cost Cases. We are also proud of our specialist regulatory practice headed by Steven Varley, an acknowledged leader in his field. We are one of only four firms in the Midlands contracted to prosecute on behalf of the Health & Safety Executive.
